Live music performances on one outdoor stage by world renowned names weren’t the only entertainment in this family event.The festival includes food stalls\, face painting loads of music making for a light-hearted family day out which made sure all the kids were entertained. 2023 was even bigger and better! 2 large outdoor stages\, more bars\, more food and drink stalls\, funfair and so much more! \n\n\n\nSaturday MacMoray Line Up\n\n\n\nBlue\, Peter Andre\, The Hoosiers\, Torridon\, Hue & Cry\, D:Ream\, DJ Sammy\, Cartoons\, Bad Actress\, Cala\, Forgetting the Future\, Verii\, Oxbow Lake Band\, Moray Concert Brass \n\n\n\nSunday MacMoray Line Up\n\n\n\nScouting for Girls\, Basshunter\, Whigfield\, Gareth Gates\, Bad Manners\, The Drifters\, Boyzlife\, Drew Dixon\, Chris Slade Timeline\, Black Lace\, Tweed\, Dylan James Tierney\, Macta\, Be Like Pablo \n\n\n\nMacMoray Music Festival will be hosted by DJ Jammie and Miss Lossie Mouth\, and it expected that the Elgin District Pipe Band and Mackay Mini Pipe Band will appear. \n\n\n\nDay tickets are £45 for adults\, £25 for 11-17 year olds\, £15 for 5-10 year olds and £5 for under 5’s. Weekend tickets and motorhome tickets are also available.

DESCRIPTION:The Glasgow Phoenix Choir is delighted to be performing once again in St Giles’ Church\, Elgin on Saturday 23rd September\, 2023 at 2pm.  \n\n\n\nThe Glasgow Phoenix Choir rose out of the ashes of the world-famous Glasgow Orpheus Choir and this year celebrates a total of 123 years of choral excellence. The choir is directed by conductor\, Cameron Murdoch. Cameron joined us in 1987 as Accompanist and Depute Conductor and is an Honours graduate in music from the University of Glasgow who also studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He regularly plays harpsichord and piano with various musical ensembles and performs throughout the British Isles. Cameron is also Organist and Choir Master of St. John’s Renfield Church in Glasgow’s West End. Many of the pieces in the current Phoenix repertoire were arranged by Cameron. \n\n\n\nThe Glasgow Phoenix Choir performs over 20 concerts per year the majority of which raise money for charity and each involves a range of music from choral standards to new music and\, in addition\, we feature many delightful solo performances by choir members. Choir recordings receive regular play on local and national radio stations. Our most recent postcard CD\, All in the April Evening\, was recorded in St John’s-Renfield Church in Glasgow’s West End and released in April 2023. It forms part of the recent celebration of the choir’s Platinum Jubilee and features a new recording of the title song which is most associated with both the Phoenix and Orpheus choirs. In addition\, it features the first recording of Opening\, written by Bob Chilcott\, our Honorary President\, to commemorate that special anniversary and to looks to the future of the choir with hope for what is yet to come. Opening was a 70th anniversary commission made possible through the support of the Freemasons of Glasgow. \n\n\n\nThe choir is pleased to announce that our accompanist for our Highland Tour concerts will be Matthew McIlree. Matthew is a regular accompanist with the choir. He is a recent graduate from the University of St. Andrews\, where he completed both piano and organ scholarships alongside a degree in mathematics and computer science. He has been a multiple prize winner at both the Glasgow and Inverclyde music festivals\, including twice winning the Glasgow Society of Organists’ Trophy at the Glasgow open organ class; and three times winning the top piano award\, as well the 2016 overall prize\, in Inverclyde. He is now studying for his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Glasgow\, alongside working freelance as a wedding musician and accompanist. The filmed content was completed throughout the COVID 19 period when ODTC were unable to perform live and had to find other ways of being creative with their work. One fateful night\, the two collided on the dancefloor of an Ibiza superclub\, and the rest is history. \n\n\n\nWhat if they could combine the excitement of a proper night out with the thrill of playing bingo? They set out to create an event that would be like no other. SUMMARY:Introductory Beekeeping Course
DESCRIPTION:This is an introductory beekeeping course for anyone considering taking up beekeeping or who wishes to learn more about honey bees. We’ll meet in our training apiary near Elgin for a presentation then\, after lunch\, you will meet the bees. We will lend you a bee suit and gloves and show you the fascinating world inside a hive of bees\, and teach you the basics of handling them. \n\n\n\nIn the course you will learn about the life history of the honeybee and find out what is required to get you started as a beekeeper. \n\n\n\nWe ask for a donation of £30 for the course and this includes access to our course hand outs\, refreshments during the day\, a soup and sandwich lunch and the use of the protective clothing when we meet for the demonstrations in the apiary. \n\n\n\nNumbers for the introductory beekeeping course are restricted to 12 participants\, so early booking is recommended. \n\n\n\nMoray Beekeepers Association was established in 1919. We are a growing number of mostly amateur beekeepers located in North East Scotland\, with the association being based in Moray. \n\n\n\nMBA exists to promote and foster an interest in the study\, development and practice of beekeeping and to protect and conserve the future of the honeybee in Moray and Scotland.
